Children's Book Illustration

Jack and Jill illustration:  Create an illustration for ONE line in "Jack and Jill went up the Hill" Consider the look of the characters. How old are they, what they are wearing and what action they are performing? What is the setting? Consider the media that would best illustrate the feeling of your scene.

Children's Book Illustration: Find your favorite children's book that contains an illustration of a story.  Try to pick a book you enjoyed as a child. If you do not have any children's books around: Go to the library, ask friends or family.   Find a passage in the book that you would be interested in illustrating.  Think about the following questions about the passage you want to illustrate:  1.  Who is/are the main characters in this passage?  2.  What is the situation that the characters are involved in during this passage?  3.  Where does the passage take place (the setting?)  4.  Why are they involved in this situation?   Create a watercolor illustration of your passage that varies from the original illustration.  Be original and creative!
